FIEND

Family Across Borders

01 Introduction

For more than two decades, Fiend has maintained a close connection with Hong Kong Violence. Living in the United States, he is living proof that the friendships surrounding HKV extend far beyond borders.

What started as a friendship with Akira grew into a bond that has now lasted more than twenty years. This July, Fiend returns to the HKV Stage at Dominator Festival 2026 for his third appearance, making him one of the few artists to become a three-time HKV Stage veteran.

Known for his uncompromising sound, dark humour and fierce loyalty to the people around him, Fiend remains one of the scene’s most distinctive characters.

02 Finding HKV

Ask Fiend how he first got involved with HKV and you quickly realise that separating fact from fiction may not be possible.

"I first got involved with Kin when we met at these underground street fights in Hong Kong. Kin lost every fight and I lost a lot of money. Afterwards I took him out for beers and we became friends."

Whether any of that actually happened remains questionable.

According to Fiend, Akira later started Hong Kong Violence to honour his failed career as a street fighter.

"But the label became a success!!!"

When Akira started reaching out to friends for tracks, Fiend was one of the artists he contacted.

"He contacted a lot of friends for tracks to release and I was one of them. But I didn’t do anything until I was forced to stay at his house. Only then did we collab on a track. And now we are friends forever."
03 My Favorite HKV Track

When asked about his favourite HKV release, Fiend doesn’t hesitate.

NUKOM – Fuck Bass (HKV001)

"I love HKV001 by Nukom. To me this is the sound of real hardcore."

For Fiend, the track represents everything he loves about the underground.

"The kinda shit that doesn’t give a fuck. All that noise and anger has to go somewhere. Might as well go out of the speakers and into the brains of crazy hardcore heads."
04 Playing The HKV Stage at Dominator

This year marks Fiend’s third appearance on the HKV Stage at Dominator.

"This is my third time playing for Akira on his stage and I’m always honored to do so for Kin."

The respect goes far beyond music.

"I have the most respect for Akira not just as a DJ but as the friend he has been to me and the whole Apocalypse Crew."
Editor's note: Apocalypse Recordings is a record label founded by Fiend and Nevermind, both longtime friends of Hong Kong Violence.

What can visitors expect?

"I feel great to play some fucked up hardcore for the man of Hong Kong."
05 Learning From The Generations Before

Fiend sees a lot of potential in the younger generation.

"I think the new generation is cool. They are a good mix of the old and new style."

But when it comes to speedcore and noisecore, he believes something important should never disappear.

"When it comes to noisecore and speedcore I think more of it needs to have less compromise and more of a fuck you attitude."

Then comes the conclusion only Fiend could make.

"This way The Destroyer is the best."
06 What HKV Means To Me

For Fiend, the answer is simple.

"HKV means family to me."

He sees HKV as a place where generations meet.

"The hardcore posse with the rice man on the frontline."

For Fiend, one of Akira’s greatest strengths has always been bringing people together.

"He’s the best for this movement. To bring the old heads and the new heads together."

At the end of the day, that’s what matters most.

"We all hardcore family."
07 Favorite HKV Merch
"The first Dominator I played, Kin gave me a HKV shirt. And I still wear it to this day. So yea, that shirt is something I wear with pride to honor my friend and his label."
08 One Word

If Fiend had to describe HKV using a single word?

FAMILY
09 A Message To HKV
"Yea big shouts to the HKV posse all city 🔥"

Without missing a beat, Fiend starts listing names.

"The main man Akira and Bruhze 🖤 and of course the rest of the hardcore posse…"
