CHINESE NOISE • VOICES FROM THE SCENE 016
TRIPPED
01 Introduction
Tripped first met Hong Kong Violence in 2008 during one of his earliest bookings in the Netherlands. What started with a show and a ride home after the party grew into a friendship that has lasted ever since.
This July, he returns to the HKV Stage at Dominator Festival 2026 for a brand-new back-to-back set with RZVX.
02 Finding HKV
Tripped traces his first memories of HKV back to one of his earliest trips to the Netherlands.
"I believe my first booking in the Netherlands came via The Hague Terror Squad back in 2008, where Kin was playing as well. I believe he also gave me a ride after the gig."
Shortly afterwards, he was booked for the Nightmare Outdoor Terror Area — another milestone in his early career.
"That was my first Dutch outdoor festival booking. Being programmed alongside so many people I looked up to was wild!"
Looking back, Tripped is still grateful for those early opportunities.
"It was still about the music, not social media presence. Kin surely played a big part getting my name out there in the Netherlands."
03 My Favorite HKV Track
NUKOM – Beat Ya Ass
When asked which HKV release immediately comes to mind, the answer is instant.
"I'm sure there are many, but this one comes to mind instantly."
04 Playing The HKV Stage at Dominator
"I'm ALWAYS very happy and proud to play Dominator and see so many people that love this kind of music all together."
This year brings something new.
"Since I'm playing a versus set I have never done before this year, I don't really know yet what we will do."
One thing is guaranteed.
"Expect nothing less than lots of kickdrums and rising BPMs!"
05 Learning From The Generations Before
For Tripped, HKV has always represented something bigger than music.
"I believe what is being passed on is the no-rules and punk attitude."
"That it is OK to not follow the trends and express yourself in more extreme forms of music."
"Music styles come and go, grow and shrink, but there will always be a need for the extreme."
"And HKV plays an important part in bringing that noise to newer generations."
06 What HKV Means To Me
"It's my Chinese family that I'm happy to be part of since a long time."
For Tripped, HKV has always been a community that encourages creativity.
"A community that supports creativity and has the potential to host new and alternative artists on the biggest hardcore festival in the world."
"It's a nice treat to have in your back pocket."
07 Favorite HKV Merch
"Ooft, man... we did SO many Tripped collaboration shirts alone that I don't really remember all of them at this point."
"I liked all of them. Obviously."
But one classic still stands out.
"I always loved the original Uzi logo shirts as well."
08 One Word
If Tripped had to describe HKV in one word?
AKIRA
09 A Message To HKV
"Thanks for supporting me for almost two decades. 🫶"
