From fan to the HKV family
This article is part of Chinese Noise, a living archive exploring Chinese identity, underground music and cultural memory through 25 years of Hong Kong Violence.
For this edition, we spoke with RZVX, a newer generation artist whose journey with HKV started as a fan abroad and eventually led him to becoming part of the label himself.
On July 18, RZVX joins the HKV Stage at Dominator Festival 2026.
Like many artists outside the Netherlands, RZVX first discovered HKV through friends in the underground scene.
One of the first tracks he heard was an Akira classic.
What started with discovering HKV eventually came full circle. Years after hearing those first releases, RZVX became part of the HKV catalogue himself with the release of Bruhze & RZVX – Who The F Said That. The track later appeared on the Thunderdome 2025 compilation — a milestone that would have been difficult to imagine back when he was first discovering HKV through friends and underground music.
Choosing a favorite HKV release is not easy.
Still, one release stands above the rest for RZVX.
For someone who grew up following Dutch hardcore festivals from afar, playing the HKV Stage at Dominator still feels surreal.
He first heard about Dominator back in 2012.
Looking back on the journey, the feeling is one of pride and gratitude.
According to RZVX, one of the most important things the older generation passed down is the courage to stay true to yourself.
He also credits the older heads for laying the foundation of the scene itself.
For RZVX, HKV represents freedom.
But it’s more than just creative freedom.
Having grown up with HKV music, the connection runs deep.
Among all the merch he owns, one piece stands out above the rest.
The shirt carries a memory.
After twenty-five years, RZVX sees HKV as one of the defining forces in underground hardcore.
For him, the real achievement goes beyond longevity.
Huge shout-out to the whole crew, the artists, and the fans who keep the fire burning. Here’s to the next 25 years of destruction.
